How the first months come together

Three quiet steps. No lectures, no checklists imposed from outside.

STEP 01

A calm first conversation

We map what each of you expects from daily life — chores, money, family, time alone.

STEP 02

A shared weekly rhythm

Together you draft routines that fit your real schedules, not an idealized version of them.

STEP 03

Habits that hold

You leave with a simple way to check in weekly and adjust before small friction becomes a pattern.

What you get, and what you might be wondering

Two tabs. The first is the practical picture, the second is honest answers.

  • A written summary after every session, in plain language.
  • A household rhythm template you adapt, not adopt.
  • Scripts for the three conversations couples postpone longest.
  • A 15-minute weekly check-in format you can run alone.
  • Access to our topic library between sessions.

Choose the pace that fits you

Price ranges vary with session length and location. We confirm the exact figure before you commit.

Practice examples

Three common situations we work with, and how the shape of the week changed.

Notebook and two pens resting on a wooden kitchen counter
Everyday division

Situation: Two full-time schedules and no agreed routine.

We did: Mapped the week hour by hour and split recurring tasks.

Changed: Chores stopped being a nightly negotiation.

Two closed envelopes and a calculator on a pale desk surface
Money conversations

Situation: Different spending habits, no shared overview.

We did: Built a simple monthly picture both partners could read.

Changed: Money talks moved from monthly to weekly and got shorter.

Wall calendar with soft shadows in a bright hallway
Two families, one calendar

Situation: Every holiday split between two extended families.

We did: Agreed a rotation and a phrase for saying no kindly.

Changed: Holiday planning became a single annual conversation.

Examples from practice. Every household is different and outcomes vary.

In their words

Five couples, five different starting points.

★★★★★

We married in March and spent the first month quietly annoyed at each other about dishes. Two sessions gave us words for it. It sounds small. It was not.

I expected a lecture about roles. Instead we got a whiteboard and an hour of honest questions. We left with a plan we actually wrote ourselves.

Marcus T.First year of marriage · Texas

I moved across three states to get married. Suddenly everything was new — the town, the routine, the in-laws. Having a weekly structure helped me feel at home faster.

Hannah L.Married 7 months · Oregon

★★★★★

Both our families expected every holiday. We dreaded December. One session gave us a rotation we could explain without offending anyone.

We were fine, honestly. But the weekly check-in format is the thing we still use two years later, every Sunday, fifteen minutes.

Questions before you book

Six things couples ask us most often.

It is built for couples in the first two years of marriage, and for those preparing for the transition. Most participants are balancing work, two extended families and a new shared household. You do not need a specific problem to join. Curiosity and a willingness to talk honestly are enough.

There is no ideal date, but the first six months tend to be the most useful window. Routines are still flexible then, and small adjustments are easier than later repairs. Some couples come to us before the wedding, others a year in. Both work. We simply adapt the starting point to where you are.

Sessions work best with both partners present, because the value comes from hearing each other. That said, one person can start alone and the second can join later. We never require anyone to attend. If one partner is hesitant, a single individual session is a comfortable way to test the format first.

No. We provide coaching and education about communication, routines and expectations. We do not diagnose, treat or prescribe, and we do not offer medical or psychological care. If your situation needs clinical support, we will say so openly and point you toward appropriately licensed professionals in your area.

The Starter format runs across two sessions, usually within a month. Foundations spreads six sessions over roughly six weeks, which gives you time to test routines between meetings. Ongoing sessions have no fixed end — couples book them as needed, sometimes monthly, sometimes seasonally, depending on what is happening at home.

Online sessions are available worldwide and run on a standard video call. We schedule around your time zone, including evenings for couples on the West Coast and mornings for those in Europe. In-person sessions take place in Asheville, North Carolina. Write to us and we will confirm the practical details before you book.
